Systems > Goals: Why I’m Done Just “Going with the Flow”

It’s time.

Remember last week when I said, “We listen and we don’t judge”? Well… here it is. These are the systems I’m using every day this year to move intentionally, and fingers crossed, learn some new things about myself along the way.

Let me start with the biggest lesson I’ve learned: we have so many resources at our fingertips through social media and technology. For the longest time, I felt like I had no real direction. I was just “going with the flow.” After a few years of grinding and living by Anna’s words in Frozen II, “Do the next right thing”, I was exhausted… and still, nothing was changing.

That’s what led me to really use the resources around me. Specifically: YouTube.

You want a mentor?
A workout?
A new skill?

It’s all there, you just have to use it intentionally. I was only five when YouTube was created, but I never imagined it could actually give me the tools to succeed. Then someone told me to watch one specific video (don’t worry, I’ll link it at the end), and it hit me: people aren’t just building their own brands, they’re showing us how they did it. So thank you to all the humans doing the work and leaving the trail behind you.

Now, on to the systems.

I’m not taking credit for the word “systems”, if you follow the same professionals I do, you know where it comes from. It’s not a long list, and I’m not a machine. I won’t do every single thing perfectly every single week. But I’m committed to trying. And as I grow, maybe these systems will grow with me. We’ll figure it out together.

Right now, it’s about consistency, until these become habits and I don’t even think twice about them.

  1. Schedule everything.
I block time for school, work, writing this blog, and life outside my home. Fun fact: I have Tuesday Tea with my closest friend every week. #softgirlera
  2. Review my values and goals every day.
  3. If it’s not on the schedule by Sunday night, it’s not happening.
No curveballs. No last-minute reshuffling. Just a clear path for the week ahead.
  4. Check my bank account every day.
I’m not a hardcore budgeter, but I always know exactly what I have and what I’m spending. Well… I do now—since December 16th, when I got serious about this year.
  5. For every leisure book I read, I read two non-fiction books that teach me something.
  6. Journal every day, even if it’s just two sentences.
    (Yes, it’s on the calendar.)

That’s it. Between work and school, my “free time” is mostly spent being a mom, taking care of my little family and pouring everything I can into those moments.

Is there a topic you want me to go deeper on? Just ask. You’re basically my board of directors right now, even if it’s just me sending my thoughts into the internet.

As always, my lovelies:
Build slowly. Learn deeply. Move intentionally.

Next week let’s talk about boundaries.

Serious. Hard. Necessary.
